W: Washoe Valley Rides - Washoe, Nevada

We’d love to have you come enjoy the beauty of Washoe Valley with us on May 7 and 8 at the 18th Annual Washoe Valley Endurance Rides.

We're offering a 15 mile trail ride on Sunday, so tell all your friends who aren't quite ready for a 25/50 mile ride. It won't be a timed event, just a leisurely trail ride, with beautiful views.

Please check out our web page at http://www.nastr.org/rides/washoe/washoevalley.htm

Carol Myers has done it again!!! She is our talented web designer, and has updated all the information on our web page. She has made it extremely easy for you to access all sorts of information (brochure, entry, rider list, maps, sponsor information, photo gallery, ride results, etc.). We will be adding and updating information as we receive entries, so check the page periodically. You can see when your entry has been accepted, what your number is, and check out your competition.

SPECIAL NOTE, due to the new State Park Fee Schedule your overnight camping fees ARE NOT included in your entry this year. Your day use fee will be covered by us, but you will need to pay your camping fee upon arrival to the park, at the fee booth. $10.00 per vehicle camping overnight. For example, if you are planning to stay Friday night and leave Saturday after the ride, you only need to pay $10.00. Should you stay Friday night and Saturday night, you will need to pay $20.00. Remember, this fee is per vehicle, so if you car pool you are only charged for a single vehicle.

Nevada residents with Annual Parking Permits are covered for day use only. You will be required to pay a camping fee if staying Friday and/or Saturday nights.

Thanks for supporting our ride, and we look forward to seeing you in May.

PS: New Cuyama Ride Rescheduled to April 1,2,3

March 28 2011

Due to the date change from the rains this past week, the Cuyama Oaks XP ride still has openings.  This ride usually fills up to capacity with a waiting list so now is your chance if you'd like to attend for 1, 2, or 3 days you still can!   Apparently some riders mis-communicated and have been calling others to tell them the ride was cancelled.  The ride was not cancelled - it was rescheduled to the following weekend.

Here is the ride information page:  http://xprides.com/cuyama-oaks-xp/   Weather for the ride is expected to be in the high 60's to mid 70's and mostly sunny or sunny.  After the rains this past week and a few days of sunshine which we are now getting the wildflowers should have an extraordinary year. The trails have dried out and are in good shape.  We also have some very nice new trail.  The grass is greener than we ever remember seeing it here before.  Bring your sunscreen!

MT: Color Country Endurance Ride - April 7-10

Ride manager Marian Parker and her family would like to invite riders to join them at their upcoming Color Country Endurance Ride that will be held April 7, 8, 9, and 10, 2011, in Toquerville, Utah.

Dave Nicholson is the head vet, and Stacie Devereaux is the trail master.

"Stacie and her crew work very hard to give the 50 milers, and the 25 milers a variety of trails each day," Parker says. "Since she knows endurance she knows how to mark trail and hopefully they are enjoyable for everyone.  Just remember it is your responsibility to take care of yourself and best friend, your horse. We are high desert, with hills, washes, climbs, sand, cactus, beautiful scenery, and dinosaur tracks, and she will have water on the trail."
