To reserve panels and covered corrals see the ride registration form. Remember, each horse owner, trainer and/or rider is responsible for safe camping and restraint of their horses. We thank those of you who rake up all hay/manure and put it into blue tubs - some people do not clean up at all, and Broxton asks that we implement a clean-up fee of $25 if you do not rake up hay/manure into piles and put into tubs. We are not the only group who loves this facility so please help us keep it clean!

Electric/Lodging: To reserve an electric hook-up, see the ride reservation form. There is a bath house on grounds. See http://www.broxtonbridge.com for additional info on facilities at the Trail Ride/RV Park tab. Camp will open Friday, July 3rd at 10 am. Historic lodges which are ON THE GROUNDS are $80 per room per night. GREAT FISHING available for non-riding family members!

Meal tickets are non-refundable unless your ticket can be sold. Cancellations must be made directly to ride management.

We must have written notice (email) that you are coming and will pay the non-refundable deposit if plans change. MT: Zone Team Endurance Challenge (ZTEC)

Zone Team Endurance Challenge (aka ZTEC) - June 6-7, 2015 - Ashland, Montana

What's it all about???

In 2007 we hosted the Zone Team Endurance Challenge. It was a one-day 100 mile ride that was open to Teams competing in AERC and FEI Divisons. We really enjoyed doing the ride - highlighting the 'team aspect' of riding as well as adding the 'pomp and circumstance' of a 'championship type' event.

For the last three years we've tried this format again and had a great time - our completion rate increased and only two horses have been treated!!! The main difference between Z-TEC this year and Z-TEC in 2007 is we're offering it for ALL of the distances we're having this year!!! On Saturday June 6th riders will have the opportunity to ride either in a 25 mile, 50 mile or 75 mile ride and on Sunday June 7th we are offering a 35 mile ride, 55 mile ride or 100 mile ride.

So how's this going to work you ask? Teams will consist of 4 riders - any 4 riders - old riders, new riders, young riders, red haired riders, riders from Montana, etc - ANYTHING GOES! Placings will be based on how well your team does with their final total ride time. Awards will be all "Team Based" - IE your team has the opportunity to stand up on the podium for their TEAM GOLD MEDAL (well, not really "Gold", but "Gold" in color!) and other goodies yet to be determined. Everyone who completes will also receive a completion prize.

Commonly asked questions we've received have been:

How do I get on a team? Teams are self-forming - call your friends, call your neighbors, call your friends' neighbors.

What if I don't have a team? Contact us and we'll put you in contact with teams who are looking for riders. We plan to have available a 'looking for team members page' so riders can fill and/or join teams.

Do I have to go FAST? Heck no, that is the beauty of this concept - riding for your team and finishing will be rewarded. The top three finishing times will be added up to create the overall finish time of the team. Teams that finish only two riders will have a 'mock time' added (total ride time allowed minus hold time) to give the team three finish times.

How will we know how we're doing as a team throughout the day? We will be posting throughout the day the team standings based on the top three ride times of each team.

Can we wear 'uniforms' and park together? Oh, absolutely! In fact, we're highly recommending 'team apparal' and 'team parking'.

Homesteaded in 1883 by Captain Calvin Howes (a former sea Captain from Massachusetts), the Circle Bar Ranch is the home of the Fort Howes Endurance Rides. Started in 1997, the Fort Howes rides have grown from a one-day ride offering a 25 mile Limited Distance ride and a 50 mile Endurance Ride to currently offering a two-day ride with 25 and 35 mile Limited Distance rides, a 50 and 55 mile Endurance Ride and a 75 and 100 mile Endurance Rides. We also include FEI divisions for both Seniors and Young Riders in the 50/55/75 and 100 mile distances. In addition, this year we're serving as a Team Trial for the US Endurance Team - riders will be demonstrating in the 75 mile ride for the new Chef d'Equipe, Mark Dial, and Team Veterinarian, Dr. Anne Christopherson.

Trails consist of Open Meadows, Cow Trails, and unimproved Jeep Trails. Riders can expect to have at least one 1000' elevation change in each loop they ride out on. Water is available out on trail every 3-5 miles. Currently all Vet Checks will all be in basecamp, however, depending on the trails we may have one check out on the 75 and/or 100 mile rides (we'll make arrangements to haul your crewing supplies out if necessary).

Basecamp is a huge open field with lots of room and plenty of horse water available.

We will again be offering our Rancher's dinner on Friday night including steak and all the trimmings. Saturday night will include a BBQ with hamburgers and hotdogs.

Temperatures in the early part of June range in the 40's overnight and up into the 80's during the days. Though one should always plan for anything - this is Montana after all and we subscribe to the saying "Don't like the weather, wait five minutes, it will change”.

Online entry available at:  http://www.rideentry.org/ZTEC/2015Entry.html

See ya’ll in Montana June 6-7, 2015!

SW: Barefoot in New Mexico

October 17 & 18, 2015
Alamogordo, NM

With the success of last years ride, we are happy to reduce this years entry fees and Juniors rider will receive a 50% discount! With beautiful scenery, barefoot friendly trails, and great New Mexico hospitality we sure hope you can join us for this years Barefoot In New Mexico Ride!

Barefoot In New Mexico is held in the scenic Tularosa Basin near the White Sands National Monument. Trails are in the buffer zone of the MacGregor Range where the footing is mostly barefoot friendly however there will be some rocky sections of trail so hoof protection is recommended but not required. Trails are on hard packed dirt roads, two track, cow trails and cross country. Mike Guy has done the trail scouting and we have made some changes to previous trails to improve the overall ride experience.

Ride camp is at the residence of ride manager, Marcelle Himanka, camp is 86 acres of flat desert terrain with plenty of room to make yourself and your equines right at home. We will provide horse water and port-a-potties, evening meals for entered riders and other folks may purchase a really good home cooked meal for $10.00. Evanna Guy and her sister Jessie are the chief cooks and they do a great job. Linda Sherrill will be taking photos on trail so bring your smile!

We are a beginner friendly ride and would love to show you the ropes and help you along the way. We are passionate about endurance and embrace the AERC spririt of, "To finish is to win". If you are not ready to try a 25 or 50 miler then you are welcome to participate in the introductory fun rides, 10 miles, held each day and join us for dinner and awards afterward. We sincerely hope to see you in ride camp.

Your ride management team,
Marcelle Himanka, Mike and Evanna Guy

PS: Descanco

Come join us for a weekend of riding in the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Basecamp located in Descanso, CA. On Saturday, there will be a 15 mile introduction ride, 25 mile limited distance, and 50 mile ride. This will also be the Arabian Horse Association Region One Arabian Horse Association 50 Mile Endurance Championship. On Sunday, join us for another 15 mile introduction ride and a 30 mile limited distance.

• Scenic trail through the pines
• Great completion awards
• Juniors pay half price
• Hay for horses at vet checks
• Café, gas, market & feed store nearby
• Competent, friendly veterinarians
• Refreshments for riders at vet checks
• Lunch provided for all riders & crews
• Includes dinner Friday night
• Includes dinner Saturday night

The Descanso Endurance Ride in southern California is a moderate (plus) to difficult ride.

The scenery is beautiful with the ride starting at the staging area in Descanso, CA and climbing up to the pine trees and meadows of theCuyamaca Rancho State Park. The course is on trails and fire roads, with good footing. There are a few stream crossings. The trail can be rocky in some areas so if it is appropriate, you may wish to consider putting pads on your horse. The trail is safe, but there are some areas that require horsemanship. There is a lot of climbing so you will need to bring a fit horse, or plan to take the full time allowed. You will be sharing the park area with other equestrians, hikers, bicyclists, deer and wild turkeys.

There is crew access to all vet checks, but since hay, bran and carrots will be provided for the horses, rider refreshments at the vet checks and lunches for all riders, support crews are really not necessary. Thank you to our volunteers for making this possible.

The Descanso Endurance ride basecamp is in an open field next to McClintock’s Saddle Works. Descanso Hay and Feed is also nearby. There is a small store with expensive gas (including diesel), and a café within a mile. The only water source will be a water trough that we will keep filled with a hose. If it is more convenient for you, you may want to bring your own horse water. There are no trees at basecamp, so you may want to bring your own clouds also. Dogs MUST be kept on leashes – please!

DIRECTIONS TO BASE CAMP: From San Diego via I-5 or I-15, go east on I-8 approximately 35 miles. Go past Alpine, and the Viejas Casino. Exit at Highway 79/Descanso (exit 40). Turn left and go north under the freeway. A mile down the road (at the café), turn left onto Riverside Drive. The store and gas station will be about 1/2 mile down the road on the left and the basecamp will be 1/4 mile past that on the right.
