CT: Indian Territory

The 23rd Annual Indian Territory Endurance Ride is going to be one of the best rides in a long time!  The trails were under water all summer but have dried out nicely and are free of clutter and debris.  Link has brush hogged, cleared trail, and smoothed several treacherous spots while several of us have lopped and trimmed like crazy!  The weather looks nice and the veterinarians are excited to be back out there.

The LD and 50 milers will start at 7:30 to take advantage of all the daylight hours.  The last 50 is usually in with several hours to spare; this is an excellent first 50.  You can also take advantage of the elevator option.  There will be a pot luck once the last 50 miler is in off trail so bring your favorite dish to share.

Please let me know if you're coming.  The flier is on the AERC and OCER sites with an entry provided for your convenience.  (No need to pre-enter.)  There is no camping fee but we are asking for an $8 donation for trail maintenance.  Link and I rented a skid steer to clear the trail, brush hog, and fix the wooden bridge.  The entry fee doesn't cover the cost of hauling that monstrosity the 150 miles round trip much less actually renting it.  Thank you in advance for helping out with the trail maintenance.

We look forward to seeing you all next weekend at Blue Creek Campground on Lake Oologah!

SW: Lead Follow or Get Out of My Way

Mark your calendar, just 2 short months away is the 5th Annual Lead Follow or Get Out of My Way Ride at McDowell Mountain Regional Park.

The ride will be held on Saturday November 14, 2015.

We will be offering AERC and AHA sanctioned 75, 50, 30 mile rides along with a 12 mile fun ride.
We have received several entries and some new riders so get your entries mailed. We do have a limit of 150 entries.

New this year we have added a 3rd Veterinarian to help speed up the vetting process. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful, knowledgeable and experienced team of Control Judges including Rick Poteste DVM, Bradley Scott Houser DVM, and Mark Anderson DVM.

Trail changes: McDowell Mt Park made some minor trail changes in Shallomo Wash so the trail is mostly out of the wash. We have made a minor change in the trail design which will result in less wash for all distances. Riders and horses will be very pleased with the improvements.

We are very fortunate once again to have local Equine Photographer Susan Kordish again to photograph our ride again this year. She has been a photographer for 21 years. Through the years she has learned to “see” through the lens and transform her images into the work of art they become. Susan does freelance work for a number of equine magazines and submits images to other magazines and online competitions. She also participates in juried gallery shows here in Arizona and shoots equestrian events. Susan has had two Endurance News covers since 2011. Susan’s ride photos can be viewed and purchased at www.azcowgirlphotography.com her email is cowgirlphotography@hughes.net. Susan Kordish PO Box 204 Skull Valley, AZ
