CT: Ozark Trail

September 23 2017 - Steelville, Missouri

The Ozark Trails 75/100 is a point to point 75/100 mile endurance ride, with the 75 being an elevator, that follows the historic Ozark Trail from Steelville, MO to Black, MO, through the Ozark mountains.

If you've never ridden on The Ozark Trail it is honestly what I think of when I daydream about endurance riding. Mostly single track and forest service two track, it is a technical trail that will challenge you in the vein of Tevis or Bighorn or Old Dominion...

Come join us for a challenge right here in the middle of the country! learn more form our website http://ozarktrailsendurance.com/

W: Nevada Derby I & II

The NV Derby ride is alive and well, and will be held on 1st/2nd of April. Entries to be found on the NASTR.org website.

The ride will be at Washoe Valley and although the camp is the same as the old Washoe Valley ride, the trail is *not* the same.

Because the ride is early in the season, the NV Derby ride does not include the SOBs (I know - you're all disappointed), nor does it include the exciting romp at the end alongside waves crashing on the Washoe Lake beach.

Ride manager Beth Kauffmann promises the weather will be perfect riding temperature - 55°-60° with no wind (she's tight with the weather gods).

Although the trail has some erosion, your trail worker-bees are slaving away to put on a fabulous ride.

Don't forget, Saturday's 50 is also the first leg of the NASTR Triple Crown (NV Derby 50/NASTR 75/Virginia City 100). This is your chance to earn yourself an embroidered jacket and be the envy of your friends.

A reminder that today (Friday) is the last day to receive the "early entry" rate of $90 for the endurance rides - entries must be post-marked 3/24.

This is one of the best value rides around - very few endurance rides can be found for less than $100 nowadays. Yet you'll still have stellar vets, attentive ride management, fun volunteers, and excellently marked trail!

Come and join us on 1st-2nd April.

PS: Don't wait! Sign up for Descanso Endurance Ride!!

Come join us on May 20-21, 2017 in the beautiful Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. Located 40 miles east of San Diego off of I-8 highway.

It takes a lot of planning and financial commitments to organize a ride. Sign up now to help Terry Woolley-Howe plan. The Cuyamaca Rancho State Park will provide some incredible views this year as you enjoy the ride.

W: Van Duzen Doozie 75 & 100 Needs Your Pre-Entries!

May 6th 2017 there is a 75 and 100 mile in and around the Van Duzen River in Trinity County in far Northern California.

Even though it is in rough country the course is moderate and doable. The ride manager is a very very experienced 100 mile rider. She asked if she built it would you come almost a year ago and there was a resounding yes.

She has done a lot of work getting together the course and the permits and vets etc... However if entries don't start coming in soon she will have to cancel. Don't let this opportunity slip away to have more 100 mile options out there!

You do not even have to pay until you get to the ride, no checks to send, bring cash to check in. Just send in your entry!

Ride entry and info is here:

NW: Limestone Challenge and Pacific Crest Endurance Ride

Hello to everyone!

There will be two endurance rides in Southern Oregon this year. Aspen is not being put on.  The two rides will be Limestone Challenge; held at Lake Selmac, out of Selmac.  Take redwood highway turn onto Lakeshore Drive to Lake Selmac.  Go past the resort, turn onto McMullen Creek Road.  There will be ribbons and signs from there on.  Limestone is being held June 10, Manager is Glen Siver, ride is AERC sanctioned.  There will be a 10 mile fun ride along with the endurance ride.  Come everyone and enjoy yourself.

The second ride being held is the Pacific Crest Endurance ride.  It will be at Lily Glen Equestrian Horse Park.  Next to Howard Prairie.  Notice there is a 70 mile being offered this year.  There is a minimum number of riders ( 5) in order to hold the 70 mile ride.   Pacific Crest is being held July 22.  Joy Trevey Lowell will be the manager.

Want to Volunteer?

Pacific Crest has a big request of ALL horse back riders.  We are going to be replacing poles that are broken in the corrals,  replacing the chains that have disappeared.  Along with that we are doing some mowing and then the largest job, clearing the trails so that any and all horse back riders can ride the trails.

If you know anyone that likes to ride trails or hike trails, we are setting up dates for working on corrals and clearing the trails.  Right now of course there is snow and more on the way.  Most likely the big work days will be after Limestone and around the early part of July. But then again there will try to set up some time around the end of May.

The trails are important, if we the trail users do not use and keep them open then they will revert back to BLM and Forest Service.  Then we will not have trails and stand the chance of being closed out. Please do not let this happen.  Work dates will be posted soon.

The Shasta Trinity Endurance Challenge Open Series

October 20 2016

The Shasta Trinity Endurance Challenge open series is provided to promote endurance riding by California State Horsemen's Associations (CSHA) State Endurance Program.

This is an open series and has nothing to sign up for but the rides. There is no need to join anything. If you complete five rides on the same horse, any AERC sanctioned distance then you qualify to purchase a commemorative award (choices include, buckles, vest, jacket, fleece horse cooler).

The rides in this series are not run by a club. The managers of the rides in Shasta and Trinity Counties are all independent, competent, dedicated individuals with their own management styles and ride philosophies and run their own rides and are responsible for all management decisions at their own events.

This makes for a great diversity at these rides in the spectacular scenery of the top of the state!!!!

The Redneck Ride is not on the flier, but Redneck Ride completions count toward this series too. It is in Shingletown and always the last weekend in October and is sanctioned usually a month or so before the ride.
