October 17 & 18, 2015
Alamogordo, NM
With the success of last years ride, we are happy to reduce this years entry fees and Juniors rider will receive a 50% discount! With beautiful scenery, barefoot friendly trails, and great New Mexico hospitality we sure hope you can join us for this years Barefoot In New Mexico Ride!
Barefoot In New Mexico is held in the scenic Tularosa Basin near the White Sands National Monument. Trails are in the buffer zone of the MacGregor Range where the footing is mostly barefoot friendly however there will be some rocky sections of trail so hoof protection is recommended but not required. Trails are on hard packed dirt roads, two track, cow trails and cross country. Mike Guy has done the trail scouting and we have made some changes to previous trails to improve the overall ride experience.
Ride camp is at the residence of ride manager, Marcelle Himanka, camp is 86 acres of flat desert terrain with plenty of room to make yourself and your equines right at home. We will provide horse water and port-a-potties, evening meals for entered riders and other folks may purchase a really good home cooked meal for $10.00. Evanna Guy and her sister Jessie are the chief cooks and they do a great job. Linda Sherrill will be taking photos on trail so bring your smile!
We are a beginner friendly ride and would love to show you the ropes and help you along the way. We are passionate about endurance and embrace the AERC spririt of, "To finish is to win". If you are not ready to try a 25 or 50 miler then you are welcome to participate in the introductory fun rides, 10 miles, held each day and join us for dinner and awards afterward. We sincerely hope to see you in ride camp.
Your ride management team,
Marcelle Himanka, Mike and Evanna Guy
