Come join us for our ten year anniversary ride!  Enjoy some of the best footing in the west with amazing views.  We will be celebrating our anniversary accordingly and look forward to seeing everyone.  The ride entries are limited to 75 riders so don't delay.  The weather is always interesting, we have had sun and we have had snow but the one thing that is always consistent is the fun.

Rides of March will be held at Red Rock, Reno, Nevada on March 17, 2012.

NW: the Rogue Series

January 1 2012

Put on your calendar--Pacific Crest Endurance Ride (MW)--August 25,2012 and Aspen Lake Ride--September 29, 2012, and Limestone October 13, 2012. This starts the Rogue Series up again. Rogue Series--all three rides, same horse same rider, same mileage. I have posted flyers on AERC web site. They are linked when you go to the sanctioned rides and click on Pacific Crest or Aspen Lake. Any questions you can get my phone number from the ride info and call me. These are tremendous rides, not killers, not real easy, fun, great camping, lots of fun, great people to ride with. Happy trails to you and hope to see everyone at "rides".

CT: Ozark Trail 75/100

May 5th, in Black, Missouri

Full Moon. 75 or 100 miles point to point Endurance Ride  in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks. This ride is mostly single track trails through the woods. There is about 14,000 feet of  elevation change, but not one place that riders would get off to  tail up or lead down the trail. About 60-100 water crossings.  but no swimming:-)  There are some rocks, but this trail is multi  use and they do  ultra marathons and mountain bike events on it. This ride is challenging, but very doable. In 2011 we had 6 out of 9 complete the 100 under tough conditions. We got 8-10 inches of rain  during the ride.  Think of it as Tevis for those afraid of heights.

Every year folks from east of the Rockies suck it up and head west for Tevis. The US Highway and Transportation Department has installed east bound lanes on all  their highways, so  now western people can come east and try some of the more difficult rides there too.  I am offering free pasture layover for any western riders who  want to  to  come to ride the Ozark Trail, leave their horses at my place, and then come back to  head further east and ride the Old Dominion which will  be 5 or 6 weeks later. Come on Tevis folks. Put on your Big girl  panties and come east :-)

There are good trail maps at the Ozark Trail website. We also have a lot of pictures of the trail posted on the ride website.

See you in May.

PS: 2012 Warner Springs Ride is OFF

November 16 2011

Dear Riders,

It would appear that the management at Warner Springs has decided that since the ranch has a target date to close on January 16th, that they must concentrate their efforts to that end, and have therefore informed me that we will not be able to hold the endurance ride after all.

I have sent a letter, asking them to reconsider, but it does not look like it will help.  I will not officially cancel the ride on the aerc calendar until I get a final determination, but I do not have much hope that things will change.  It things change, I will let you know.
