NW: Buckskin Challenge

August 20, 2011
25/50 Mile/Trail Ride
Pocatello, Idaho

Directions: From I-15 North or South bound, take exit 71 Pocatello Creek. Turn east to the stop light at Olympus Way (between Perkin’s and Jack In the Box). Continue straight ahead 2 miles. At 1 mile there will be a KOA campground on the right. Exactly 1 mile beyond the KOA, bear right onto Parks Rd. Continue .5 mile to Buckskin Rd. Turn left onto Buckskin Rd. Continue .4 miles to ride camp on your right.

Ride Camp: Ride camp is in an open field on private ground. Room for large or small rigs. Horse water in camp. Bring people water. Dogs must be leashed at all time. This is especially important since this is private ground and our first official ride here. Manure will only need to be spread out before you leave.

Trails: The trails cover hilly BLM and private ground. There are open as well as forested areas. There are some rocky areas. Would not recommend bare foot horses. Water spaced throughout the ride.

Vetting: Pre-ride vetting will begin Friday evening, about 5 PM. Our head vet will be Dr. Matt Dredge, DVM; second vet will be Dr. Steve Haymore, DVM. All vet checks are in camp.

Ride Meeting: Ride meeting will be Friday evening, August 19th about 7:30 PM

Start Times: 50s start at 6:00 AM and 25s start at 7:00 AM. Trail riders may start anytime after 9 AM.
